July 31

This week's beats are provided byMasterbeater.

We had Oh No on the phone, straight off of Stones Throw. Here's his Myspace and his blog.

We talked about next week's radio show which we'll be doing live from Jupiter Room 3874 St.Laurent, we'll be there from 10:30 to 3am but we'll be broadcasting live on CKUT 90.3 from midnight to 2. With live performances by FBI and Revolution, I'm sure the mic will be opened for some freestyle in place of people calling in to freestyle.

Previous to that Orion and Budda Blaze will be at the gallery mentioned in the post below.

Of course Under Pressure will be going down on the weekend of August 9 & 10.

Check the Under Pressure site to keep up to date on all the details.

Big things coming

So Under Pressure is coming up soon here in Montreal which means all sorts of crap'll be going down. We start with Budda Blaze and Orion hosting a vernissage at the Yves Laroche Gallery, a sorta kinda graffiti art gallery... meh.  But this is for a good cause, raising money for the Montreal Children's Hospital, we do it for the kids, ya'know! Anyways, there'll be a silent auction, free drinks plus O & BB will be providing 80's beats, of the auditory kind, although we won't be shy in doling other kinds if we have to.

Come and hang out before we rock the live radio show from Jupiter Room later that night(more details to follow). The gallery is located in the heart of Old Montreal at 4 St.Paul e., at the corner of St.Laurent.

July 24

So apparently last week's show was 'dismal', definition;
Etymology:
Middle English, from dismal, noun, days marked as unlucky in medieval calendars, from Anglo-French, from Medieval Latin dies mali, literally, evil days
Date:
15th century
1obsolete disastrous, dreadful2: showing or causing gloom or depression3: lacking merit : particularly bad dismal performance>

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The antonym(a word of opposite meaning) for dismal could be used to define our interview with Roc C, he's from Oxnard which lands him an automatic spot on Stone's Throw, check his Myspace.

Ohno also called but we couldn't get him on air, he's going to call back next week.

Budda's booing a new shite McDonald's commercial which uses DJs, perhaps echos of what killed b-boying in the early 80s, like these horrid examples.

We gave a little review of the recent Talib Kweli/Nas show. Talib was good, has and coulda been better. Nas rocked it, bangers and new shit. Budda also caught the Nu Mark show.

Orion and Lord Chaos hit the streets last Friday and saw everybody, because as you know, summer in the city means everybody is out on weekend nights, all you have to do is hang out on the streets, forget about going in the sticky clubs.

July 3; Live from Jupiter Room

So this week we broadcasted live from Jupiter Room, 3874 St.Lawrence. This will happen monthly so we can interact with our listeners more. I lieu of doing the "Half Hour Rap Hour Freestyle Hour", we're going to do live sets from the club, this week we had CL, BK and crew.

The performances were finished off with 'live from the cluuub' freestyle session with chef Penzo Gritty stepping in to do a song.

Orion and Budda Blaze hit the streets with the wireless mics, talking to random people but the mics only have a certain range and they were on the edge of that range ...their mics were cutting out. Like everybody else, we have to figure out our boundaries but the 'man on the street' thing has potential.

We talked about Public Enemy performing at the Jazz fest, they performed the whole 'Nation of Millions' album. Flavor Flav made it.

RZA & GZA will also be performing.
